I have spent my life in the arts as a professional singer and voice teacher. And, for as long as I can remember, I have loved opera and I have loved dogs. Years ago, while transitioning in my musical career from country music back to opera, I began drawing my Dalmatians. Drawing my dogs was relaxing and very enjoyable. Along the way, I also learned dog grooming with the thought of working with show dogs. But busy with other interests, I put down my pencils.

In keeping with my love of dog art, I have become a collector of 19th and 20th-century dog paintings. I have also commissioned portraits of my dogs by contemporary artists. After many years, I have picked up my pencils once again. Of course, my interest is still in drawing dogs! Having had my own dogs, I know what joy dogs can bring. I also know the satisfaction of having portraits to remember them.
